STRABAG Real Estate lays the foundation stone for Rathaus Villas in Berlin-Schönefeld
Joined by Schönefeld’s mayor Udo Haase and District Administrator Stefan Loge, the project developers STRABAG Real Estate (SRE) laid the foundation stone for five urban villas, which are being built in the center of the Brandenburg community. As early as next year, the 154 rental apartments in Alt-Schönefeld, between Rathausgasse and the Großziethener Weg, are expected to be occupied. In late 2018, the general contractor ZÜBLIN, commissioned with the construction work, had the excavators rolled up to the approximately 11,000 square-meter site. “The Rathaus Villas are a clear milestone in the center of a booming community. In addition to these buildings, there will be numerous other projects in the next few years that will form the heart of Schönefeld,” Mayor Dr. Udo Haase explains.
Popular suburban location
The advantages of moving to the Berlin city limits are obvious: The quiet town center offers excellent transport links and good local amenities including a swimming pool and schools. It’s only 30 minutes to Alexanderplatz in Berlin and just five to the Schönefeld Airport. Other advantages of the residential campus are its beautiful outdoor facilities and the convenient underground parking. The design for the five-story group of villas was created by the Berlin architects Cramer-Neumann, who attached great importance to modern design language and high-quality furnishings.
“Although leasing only starts at the beginning of next year, we’re already seeing a high level of market interest, especially from young families, but also among professionals who are looking for attractive living space near the city,” Marc Schreiber says, SRE Division Head for Berlin, explaining the demand for apartments between 40 square meters and 100 square meters with a balcony or terrace and parking.
SRE strengthens residential development involvement
“For many years, SRE has made a name for itself, in particular with commercial real estate. So we are all the more pleased to be able to develop more residential projects once again and to realize a property in Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Hanover, and Munich, as well as in Berlin-Brandenburg,” commented SRE Managing Director Rainer M. Schäfer, presenting the prospect of more projects in Berlin.
Ed. Züblin AG, based in Stuttgart, employs around 14,000 people and, with an annual performance of almost €4 billion, is one of the largest German construction companies. Since the company was founded in 1898, ZÜBLIN has been successfully implementing sophisticated construction projects in Germany and abroad and today is the leading brand for structural and civil engineering in the STRABAG Group.
