Photonics

Around 400 companies in the key technologies of photonics, microsystems engineering and nanotechnology, as well as roughly 36 prestigious universities and research institutes, make the capital region into a hub of optical technologies in Germany. The spectrum extends from optical sensors and applications within medical and measurement technology, to communication technology for energy technology and even light design. The particularly strong ties between the regional players in the areas of business, science, teaching and research are a particular benefit. At no other location is it so easy to build efficient networks as it is in the Berlin-Brandenburg capital region.
